Keynote Speaker for the 2018 State of Black Business Luncheon

AUSTIN, Texas – August 28, 2018

The Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Mr. Richelieu Dennis CEO and co-founder of Sundial Brands with products to include Shea Moisture, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2018 State of Black Business (SoBB) Luncheon. Mr. Dennis attended Babson College and upon graduation partnered with his college roommate to start a business addressing the needs of a market of people traditionally ignored,  supplying hair and skin care products from several generations of Sierra Leonean family recipes.

Mr. Dennis is also Chairman of ESSENCE Ventures and has announced the Essence Fund for Makers and Creators venture, a $20 million investment. The funds first investment partner will be with Flavor Unit Entertainment, Queen Latifah’s production company. Most recently he has announced the launch of a $100 million in businesses led by women of color, New Voices Fund.   

A businessman well versed with several business ties in Austin, Texas. Recently, Sundial hosted a dinner at GABC with Social Marketing influencers to address the voices of black women and their entrepreneurial spirits. The dialogue of the 2018 SoBB will foster channels for Black business expansion and address the current State of Black Business in America.

We have to have real conversation in our community regarding intergenerational wealth building.  Richelieu Dennis, is the epitome of the American Dream. The story that he offers is inspiring not only to business but all sectors.
