GABC Communications Manager Awarded Prestigious Fulbright Fellowship

Austin, TX- The Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Hakeem Adewumi has been selected for the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program award for research abroad for the 2017-18 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Adewumi currently serves as the Special Projects & Communications Manager at GABC and is an emerging artist who uses photography as a method of storytelling. Before joining GABC, he travelled to various countries throughout the Black diaspora to build a comprehensive body of work that celebrates the vibrant cultures of the diaspora. His work, along with Moyo Oyelola, was recently featured on local KLRU arts-documentary series, Arts In Context and was selected to air nationally across the PBS television program. Hakeem was instrumental in the development and success of the nationally recognized #iamblackaustin campaign and served as the Creative Director for the Taste of Black Austin and Hidden Figures of Austin Project produced by the Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce.
