Skillpoint’s workforce education program, Gateway, prepares program participants for entry-level employment in high demand industries.  Currently, our programs provide training for healthcare and skilled-trade occupations.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Programs Recruitment Coordinator position is a highly visible role primarily responsible for coordinating and executing recruitment activities in support of the Gateway program.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruitment and selection of participants, professional networking, and program data management.

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Recruit participants for the Gateway program by attending appropriate events, such as tabling at partner locations, job fairs, and other assigned activities

  • Interview, assess, and select program applicants based on eligibility, potential success, and job readiness

  • Communicate expectations for admissions and program participation to applicants

  • Manage & maintain accurate trainee records in Skillpoint Alliance’s online database

  • Periodically assist with providing industry-specific professional development training to participants

  • Actively maintain and update recruitment presentation materials for programs

  • Coordinate testing and admissions processes for Gateway program

  • Assist with coordinating logistics for Gateway graduation events

  • Adhere to all grant and contract requirements applicable to program and position

  • Present to community groups, interested applicants, referral partners and potential funders

  • Evaluate recruitment efforts in light of known grant compliance standards

  • Maintain an understanding of collaboration with partners, funders and employers

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with referral partner agencies

  • Continually expand knowledge base of occupations and industries served by programming

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualified applicants will possess the following education and/or experience:

  • High School Diploma or high school equivalency degree; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 1 – years relevant experience in program coordination and/or sales/recruitment

  • Computer skills, including internet browsing, Google products, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.  Some Adobe experience preferred, but not required

  • Language skills in English required; English and Spanish preferred

  • Knowledge of vocational education in skilled-trades occupations preferred

Qualified applicants will also possess:

  • Demonstrated experience or interest in workforce development, adult education or social service work

  • Direct experience or interest in working with former offenders, low-income, minority, diverse, at-risk, veteran, homeless and/or unemployed individuals

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including techniques for positive motivation, handling difficult people, and teamwork

  • Highly organized, systematic thinker and self-motivated worker requiring minimal supervision

  • Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills, especially public speaking skills

  • Knowledge of greater-Austin community, job market, economic trends and resources

  • Ability to be flexible, persistent, and confident.

  • Knowledgeable of and comfortable with marketing

  • Reliable personal transportation required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Characterized as primarily sedentary work requiring exertion up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amounts of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects

  • Significant computer work is required

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends, evenings, and holidays

  • Requires local and regional travel
